The spread of the corona virus in the last months of 2018 was one of the most important events that the modern world had to deal with in the last few years. The spread of this disease, which first started in China and the city of Wuhan, but quickly reached most parts of the world and became a pandemic, had a major impact on various aspects of people’s lives around the world.
In addition to overshadowing the lifestyle of the people of the world, various industries and businesses were not exempted from the effects of this disease. The tourism industry was also one of these industries that faced the widespread effects of the spread of the Corona virus and the Covid-19 disease.
In general, with the closure of borders, closure of flights and hotels, almost the world’s tourism industry faced a forced shutdown. But the impact of this crisis on Iran’s domestic tourism industry was much more than international tourism or domestic tourism of other countries.
As we said, the spread of this virus happened in the last months of the year, that is, exactly when many people and tourism businesses were preparing for Eid holidays and Nowruz trips. Nowruz holiday is one of the most important peaks of travel and tourism in Iran and many people and tourists choose this time of the year to travel.
In the months of February and March, almost all tourism businesses, including travel agencies and hotels, have completed their services and sold a large part of them. In general, it can be said that the majority of domestic tourism tours as well as domestic hotels, especially in the main domestic tourism destinations such as Kish, Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, etc., have been completed in March and are preparing to provide services to Nowruz travelers. .
But the spread of the corona virus caused problems in the cycle of domestic tourism businesses. On the one hand, many people and tourists canceled their trips due to concerns about their health and that of their families. On the other hand, according to the order of the National Headquarters to fight against Corona, all tourist tours were canceled and all hotels were forced to close. These decisions, which were taken in order to preserve the public health of the society, dealt the biggest blow to domestic tourism.
But despite the passage of several months since the spread of the corona virus and the lack of definitive treatment and eradication of this disease in the world, it seemed inevitable to resume some activities and continue the normal process of society. For this reason, the National Headquarters to fight against Corona allowed some businesses to continue operating after a detailed and comprehensive review of the situation.
The tourism industry, especially hotels and accommodation facilities, is one of these businesses that were required to resume their activities by following health protocols. In this way, the re-booking of Iran’s hotels began.
This directive was announced in the last days of May 2019 by the National Headquarters to fight against Corona, and it was decided that the domestic hotels will start their activities from the beginning of June and welcome guests and tourists, following the health standards.
Of course, as we said, hotels and accommodation facilities are obliged to follow health protocols to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
One of these cases is the continuous control and supervision of the hotel staff as well as the travelers who visit the hotel. In addition to holding training courses for their employees, hotels are required to continuously monitor them in order to take necessary measures if they see a suspected case of being infected with the corona virus.
Domestic hotels should start their activities from the beginning of June and welcome guests and tourists by observing the health standards.
Also, all parts of the hotel, including public parts such as the lobby, dining room, etc., and hotel rooms must be disinfected daily and continuously. Also, all hotel employees, especially service personnel, must be equipped with sanitary equipment such as masks and gloves.
In addition, in order to maintain social distancing and prevent overcrowding, hotels should reserve only half of their capacity and the number of hotel guests should not exceed this amount.
Even though the corona virus has not been completely eradicated and we have been away from travel and tourism for several months, but “a little patience for travel is near”
